Boot & Floor Panels

This last month has been spent focusing on the rear of the car, replacing cardboard templates with steel panels.

The first step was to clean up the paint where the panels were to be welded, then the fuel cell support brackets needed welding in.

The next step was to then make the panel out of steel using the cardboard template, after much fine tweaking this is the end result.

Next step, weld it in!

To go with the plate already in place, another had to be made. This was made in 3 parts, the main sheet which was curved to allow for the fuel cell outlet pipes and the two tabs at the side to close it off.

Once this plate was welded in the fuel cell was test fitted.

The final piece was made to house the rear axle coil over shock absorbers, with two tabs on the outside to seal against the chassis rails.
